I saw Inception at the midnight showing last night and it was pretty friggin great. The movie is about a gang of dream-invading criminals who are trying to plant an idea in the mind of their target. The first hour or so consists of assembling the team and explaining the rules that the movie follows, and then the latter 3/5ths consist of the inception attempt. Leonardo DiCaprio's troubled past also plays a significant role.
I think that the set up is by far the weakest part of the movie as Christopher Nolan relies too heavily on telling rather than showing. There are plenty of awkward sounding conversations that are used to slip in information for the audience about the rules that govern dream sharers. The problem is that the plot of the movie relies so heavily on these rules that they really have to be explained and explained clearly, but I still would have liked more elegant exposition. However some cool early action and "wow" scenes help to keep things interesting, and the all around great cast helps to carry the movie through the bad lines. And I say weakest part of the movie but the start is still pretty damn good.
Then the movie gets to the attempt at inception (planting an idea in someone's heads and from there on it is a nonstop roller coaster. The action scenes are amazing and the suspense is constant. The action takes place across multiple levels of dreams and while I didn't have a problem keeping things straight there is a lot of thinking to do while you watch the movie. The movie risks losing the audience in its complexity but the screenplay and editing are so good that it isn't too hard to follow along. And then the ending is a total mindfuck. By the time the credits started rolling I was shaking uncontrollably and gasping for air.
Since seeing the movie last night I have been wholly unable to stop thinking about it, and I think that is pretty good evidence for how great the movie is. The movie certainly has plenty of flaws, but the good parts are so good that I had no trouble forgetting my complaints and getting totally lost in the world of Inception. This is not the greatest movie of all time, but viewing it is an experience unlike any other, and that is why I give it my whole hearted recommendation. Go see it! _________________

i saw it. my friend called the ending long before it happened and started screaming TOODLEOO MOTHERFUCKER in the middle of a crowded theatre. was pretty rofl. otherwise the ending basically skullfucked me (the whole theatre basically gasped at the same time) and though the rules got a little complex once there were things within things it was followable enough _________________
